Description 

BASIC FUNCTION

The Service Mechanic is responsible for Commercial Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Service operations, effectively and efficiently completing the services and repairs in the field and shop environments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Requires general knowledge of diesel or gas engines, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic systems and components.
  2. Ability to perform required PM services across a broad range of equipment in both field and shop.
  3. Ability to provide repair recommendations and perform minor service repairs in both field and shop to primarily trucks and trailers.
  4. Knowledge of Wheel end & air brakes, Air & electrical systems, A/C, clutch & driveline, PTO, suspension, tires, etc.
  5. Work safely and follow all safety policies and procedures
  6. Complete job within an accurate and timely manner
  7. Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision
  8. General knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments
  9. Complete and submit accurate and timely service reports.
  10. Ability to effectively communicate with drivers/supervisors and coordinate PM service schedules to meet needs
  11. CDL not required, but helpful
  12. Perform other various duties and activities as assigned by supervisor

  • Must have the applicable knowledge of DOT Rules and Regulations as required for operation of commercial motor vehicles
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and nights as required for the position. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Clean driving
  • Must be at least 21 to be assigned and operate field vehicle
  • Will be certified prior to operating a forklift and/or manlift
